How long it actually takes
For a typical single-family home, plan on 45 minutes to an hour and a half on-site, depending on square footage and whether drone shots are included. The photographer will move room to room, often setting up a tripod and taking several exposures of each shot to capture the room accurately in different light — this is normal and isn't a sign anything's wrong.
Do you need to be home?
No — in fact, most sellers prefer not to be. An empty, quiet house is easier and faster to shoot, and most photographers coordinate directly with the listing agent for access (lockbox, agent meet, or similar).
